It’s crazy that I’ve never had old-fashioned rolled oats before today.
We always buy instant because, well, it’s instant.
And with 7 busy family members, we’re always looking for quick meals.
Instant microwaveable meals.
Quick oats actually have the same nutrition content as old-fashioned, they’ve just been cut down smaller so that they cook quicker.
I finally persuaded my mom to buy old-fashioned oats because I wanted to try the “real deal”.
I was so excited to try rolled oats for breakfast and I followed Kath’s Video Tutorial For Making Oatmeal.
Her method produced the yummiest oatmeal I have ever had. I wish I would have found her video a long time ago!
I have been making oatmeal “wrong” all this time!
That bowl was actually my mom’s. I had mine OIAJ style.
Topped with shredded coconut and my favorite preserve ever.

And don’t forget to eat it with blueberry preserves and Artisana cashew butter! Heaven.

Out of all the food blogs I read, I have never ever heard of anyone else dipping carrots in peanut butter!
